Agenda

Workshop (about 1 hr duration) 

1.       Background on on-farm irrigation management and irrigation canal flow measurement issues in   irrigation districts, previous work, and the need for further work (10-15min). (Tentative speaker – C.A. Sanchez/K.M. Bali)

2.       The relationship between irrigation efficiency and field geometry, field condition, and inflow rate into the irrigated field with emphasis on the need for accurate flow measurement (10-15min). (Tentative speaker – E. Bautista)

3.       Flow measurement in irrigation canals using flumes with emphasis on flume selection from predesigned alternatives, installation site selection, installation, and field evaluation (20-25min). (Tentative speaker -- J.A. Replogle)

4.       The usage of an Excel worksheet as a quick reference tool  in flume selection, construction, installation and evaluation in irrigation canals (15-20min). (Tentative speaker – D. Zerihun)

Field demonstration (about 2 hrs duration)  

            Field demonstration of flume installation site selection, field measurements, installation,      and evaluation.
