| Description: | ||||
Agriculture has thrived in West Marin since the mid-19th century when the Californios, the first Mexican land grantees, settled here, followed by European immigrants who established family farms that are still a vital part of the local economy. Growing the Future will engage visitors in the history of farming in Marin as well as connect them to the contemporary stories of farmers today. Opening Friday, February 13, the exhibition includes a substantial
oral history project featuring local farm families. Al Poncia,
founding board member of MALT, Loren Poncia, Al's son and current MALT
board member, and Albert Straus, organic dairyman and son of MALT
co-founder Ellen Straus are some of the members of the Marin
agricultural community whose voices bring the story of Marin
agriculture to life. Visit www.marinhistory.org for more information. |
